things to know
In Queensland, COIs are required for Heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes GVM, Certain fleet vehicles operating commercially, Registered trailers, and Vehicles used for rideshare, taxi or passenger transport.
Things to remember about heavy vehicle certificates of inspections for vehicles between 4.5 and 16 tonne:
If your vehicle is over 4.5 tonne, you are required to obtain a Heavy Vehicle Certificate of Inspection (COI) every 12 months.
Truck and Heavy Vehicle owners must obtain a yearly Certificate of Inspection for registration purposes which ensures the safety of the vehicle.
HVRAS Certificate is also required should your registration have lapsed or you are registering the Heavy Vehicle for the first time (over 12 months in age).
Heavy Vehicles over 16 tonne GVM that are in current registration are required to be inspected by Queensland Transport.
